I recently have been reading the book by Michael Dyson called " Is Bill Cosby Right? ( Or Has The Black Middle Class Lost Its Mind?), and this is book is a great book to get, if you have not already read it. However, basically Michael Dyson is commenting and voicing his views on Bill Cosby's Infamous Pound Cake Speech in 2004 in Washington, D.C. Now after Bill gave this speech the black community turned aganist and starting wondering is he Black or White? This speech gain so much uproar around the world. Some say he was right but gave the speech in the wrong environment, some say he was wrong and he just wanted to gain good ground with the whites by making funny of us blacks. Now I read the transcript of the speech and I listened to the speech Bill Cosby gave and I do not think that he was wrong, in fact, I agree with most of the things he stated. Now the question that is being raised is how come Bill Cosby did not say anything before now, Why now become a racial critic? So my question in this discussion is, Can we as people put aside the fact of our skin color and try to be one? Now we have the opportunity to have the first African American President and already our own people downing the Barack Obama. For example, Rev. Jesse Jackson, now what has Barack Obama done to Jesse for him to say what he did? Some say Jesse is jealous become before Barack Obama, Jesse was considered the milestone of African American history. He was the closer we as a nation ever got to having an African American President. If we say "It's Time For Change", why no change not only the color of President but change the way we act towards other races, change the way we treat each other, why can't we be seen as one nation instead of a unbalance group of sectional land with different races?
